What are essential oils?

Essential oils are the essence of plants. It’s what you think of when you imagine oranges, peppermint, or cinnamon. These oils possess many therapeutic benefits both when used in aromatherapy and when used topically. Here are the uses we are most frequently asked about.

Breathing

Some of the most popular ones for promoting sensations of open airways are eucalyptus, peppermint, and rosemary. For deeper breathing, frankincense is especially potent. Keep in mind that the best oil to use really depends on the person. While one person might find the scent of eucalyptus helps them relax and breathe more easily, someone else might find it does the opposite, so go with the one that makes you feel best. In a diffuser, try Blend 1- 1 drop eucalyptus and 1 drop frankincense. Blend 2 - 2 drops peppermint and 1 drop rosemary.

Anxiety

The best oils to choose to boost the mood really depends on what you like. Choose the scent that makes you smile inside. If you’re not sure where to start, it might be worth combining a floral with a citrus such as lavender and lemon. The floral works as a relaxant, while the citrus boosts the mood. It’s hard to go wrong since any way you combine them usually works great. In a diffuser, try Blend 1- 1 drop lavender and 2 drops bergamot. Blend 2- 1 drop geranium and 2 drops lemon. Blend 3- 1 drop palmarosa and 2 drops lemongrass. Not a fan of floral scents? Try Blend 4- 1 drop cedarwood and 2 drops orange.

Sleep

Likewise, what’s best for sleep really depends on the person. Most people go with relaxants such as florals or deep notes such as cedarwood. Generally, it’s best to avoid citruses since they have a tendency to wake you up. In a diffuser, try Blend 1- 1 drop lavender, 1 drop ylang ylang, 1 drop cedarwood. Blend 2- 1 drop frankincense, 1 drop cinnamon. Want to both sleep and breathe more easily during the night? Try Blend 3- 1 drop lavender and 1 drop peppermint or Blend 4- 1 drop cedarwood, 1 drop eucalyptus.

Pain

Whether it’s to promote sensations of calmness of joints and nerves, soothe sore muscles, or relax tension in the head, temples or neck, there are a number of oils that can help. However, unlike the aromatherapy uses above, most people experience the maximum benefit by applying oils topically. We utilize a number of rare varietals of frankincenses and myrrhs as well as mints and wintergreens in our roller products, which are ready to apply and are targeted to specific needs.
